I think. Therefore I am.

To fill the first post in this blog, this little quote struck my mind, but I was not sure of the exact words. I could only recall that it has something to with thinking and consequences. So I search for I think, that’s why I am at google. Couldn’t find anything near, I just put I think, and voila !

There, it appears at first page, the page from wikipedia : Cogito ergo sum (Latin: I am thinking, therefore I exist).

This statement is widely attributed to René Descartes’ (a mathematician philosopher) French statement Je pense, donc je suis, eventough some will say that it is originated by Augustine of Hippo in De Civitate Dei (Ac proinde haec cognitio, ego cogito, ergo sum, est omnium prima et certissima etc.)

Anyway, I’m not that interested to talk about the origin, nor is this discussion of what Descartes mean by that statement. If you are interested, see here or some critics here.

Let’s just say that I like the statement. To me, it simply means I become what I am now, because of what I think. I have choices in my life, my thoughts, and my paths. And what I chose has defined me. Plus, it match my tagline well. Think !
